Our Hearth for the Holidays
The Perfect Winter Cottage
There’s something magical about finding the right place — Not just a roof or a room, but a feeling. Today, after searching and dreaming, we decided to revisit a winter cottage, tucked among the hills of Buxton. Stone walls, old wooden beams, and a cozy fire waiting to warm cold December nights.
For Alister, this part of the world holds years of memories — laughter, family, love, woven into the landscape itself. But this year will be different. This journey will be one of remembrance as well as discovery — a chance to honour the beautiful life shared with his late wife, and to gently begin shaping new memories in the quiet spaces they once walked together.
We selected this cottage because of its memories — not just somewhere to stay, but a hearth to come home to. A place to watch the grey skies roll by, to listen to rain tapping against old glass, to share quiet mornings with tea and toast, and to spend Christmas wrapped not just in warmth, but in love.
The first week of our journey is set and now wherever the road leads us this Christmas holidays, we know we have a little cottage waiting — our hearth for the holidays.
